Shining Star is not a replacement for home education or school.  We are a group of families who gather together to enrich the home education of our children.

No, we require you to stay with your children.

We are a community of families that not only value homeschooling and Waldorf education, we also value kindness, inclusion and empathy.  We help guide our children towards those things while also allowing them to spread their wings.  We also use organic and natural materials in our classes, we minimize waste and are teaching our children to care and respect for our planet.   

We will not be using a specific Waldorf curriculum in our class.  All of our programs work out of the indications of Rudolf Steiner and Waldorf education. 

Our Co-op Class is for children of all ages; however, we enroll new families with children ages 6 and older (younger siblings are welcome). Our programs are aimed at families who intend to continue homeschooling into the Grade School years.  We are not a preschool or parent-tot class.
 

Yes, we will have a lot of opportunities for volunteers; many of which can be done during class time.  

We will be celebrating festivals with our community both in and out of class. A calendar will be provided under Community as soon as it is available.

Yes! Part of our mission is to create community for you and your children.  We offer parent education, parent gatherings and craft nights, optional field trips outside of co-op, a weekend camping (or hang out for the day) at the beginning of the school year, and a year-end picnic.  

All of these events are optional if you would like to participate or not.
